Sea Shells and Chinesy Dishcloths

Just some small gifts going with us to church tomorrow... necklaces for two girls celebrating birthdays (this was Mr Music's idea). I also had fun making them origami boxes:
and a set of dishcloths I think look like a Chinesy color combination. Not for a birthday girl, but for a new friend. :)

Wristlet :)

The Lovely Miss Dance is home for her fall break and so I made her the wristlet from this tutorial. It was super easy once I figured out that the word "inside" means "inside."  :-P  I think next time I may add an inside pocket...

Quick Sewing Projects

Today I have finally uploaded pictures of two recent projects. I am on the inventory reduction act so have not allowed myself to buy anything new for these projects.

First, a cover I made for my kindle, Salvatore, from an old housecoat of my Mum's (and it is lined from part of a hoodie of Miss Language which sadly had the zipper die). The skinny part of the pocket wraps on the back and is perfect for a couple of pens.
And then this weekend I made a purse organizer. This is the way I have it stocked, then you kind of roll it up into the purse. Pattern here, super easy and quick. I like it.  :)

For the Traveler

Next week Miss Language leaves for a semester in China. She has very strict weight limits so it was not a good idea to make her anything large or heavy to take, that ruled out concrete block bookshelves etc.

So, we picked some fun fabrics and made a little passport carrying case for on a lanyard or carabiner and some matching luggage tags. They came out a little on the Dr Seuss end but it was a fun project. Patterns here, although we modified the Aeropac as we wanted the whole thing a bit smaller and a tabbed area large enough to hold the passport itself. :)

Summer Gifts

Here are some recent projects  :)

Items for a friend's wedding... need I mention, a daisy lover. They were super fun to put together, and here's the apron link. The pattern itself is so adorable you will want to do it.

Then a set of dishcloths for an online friend I finally had the joy of meeting.  :D  God is so kind to me. I never used the twist yarn like in the star before. I really like the way it looks so country/primitive.

Patriotic Dishcloths

Um, although, of course, the dishcloths themselves are not actually patriotic... just in colors associated with patriots...

This set is for a family who has been very kind and special to Miss Language. Thank you!

Screaming Banana

I hope Miss Language's friend likes this screaming banana. I don't think I'll be making another anytime soon as it wins the prize for Stupidest Thing I've Ever Knitted.  :-P

Wee Birds

I had (fidgety) fun making these little earrings. I just have to remember not to wear them in the shower.

And, yes, the cranes are made of wrappers from teaberry gum. The paper is thinner than my origami paper.

Thanks to Miss Dog Lover for letting me borrow her ear, even though she thinks the earrings are weird.  :-P

The Empty Tomb

This is actually the fruit of Miss Language's hands, not mine, but it was highly enjoyed.  :)

Cranes

I have folded a box full of cranes for our ladies' meeting this Saturday to help us focus on prayer for Japan. My problem is I pretty much liked each one I made the best. Which one do you like?  :)

New Tote, Finally

I bought the stuff to do this probably two months ago but was too scared to ruin it to go ahead and do it. Finally got up my nerve and did the cutting and sewing and Devastatingly Handsome cut the base for me. I copied it from a Vera Bradley bag I got - nearly worn out - at the Goodwill. I like how it turned out except I should have used a shorter zipper and my machine didn't like all the thicknesses so where the base is attached doesn't look the best on the inside. But no one is in there, right?

Sushi Rice Salad

Since the earthquake I have been all about things Japanese as a kind of heart prompt to prayer.

Today's dinner was teriyaki chicken, sushi rice salad, snow peas, swedish fish and yan yan for dessert. I'm none too sure about the swedish fish but they seemed right somehow.

Miss Dog Lover helped cut the carrots for the rice salad. Isn't it lovely?

Hoot Hoot!

These little fellows were made for my Mum and my friend for in with their Valentine's cards.  They are fun to make, tutorial here. Gotta love the little tail feathers.  :)

New Hat

Well, I happened to notice that I actually have a few comments on this blog. Sorry about ignoring them. I did not have it set to send me notification and figured these pictures were just for my own remembrance. Thanks for kind words about things I've done.  :)  Yes, the green thing below is a rather large shawl, and I am not in ravelry but suspect I soon will be. And Miss Language, sorry the dishcloths are not in use. The flamingo was fun to make.

Please remember to visit me at my more chatty blog.

I am happy to report I finished a hat I wanted for Valentine's day. The pattern is called Starry Noggin. I was happy about this hat because when I was close to done I realized I'd made a mistake about 6 rows back. For the first time ever, instead of ripping, I just took out the stitches I needed to to get it right - and it worked! Yay me!

Present for Myself :)

I had fun making myself some new kitchen dishcloths, coasters, and a scrubby. The variegated is my new favorite pattern, it is here.

Various Project Update

I finally got my own camera, so hopefully updates will be more timely. Anyhow, a few pictures from the last couple months...
